Breaking the chain
October 28, 2007I wonder what has gotten into the people’s mind why they were able to come up with such ridiculous thoughts:
“Send this to 20 people or you will die”
“Forward this to 10 people in 10 minutes or the headless lady will get you in your sleep”
“This little girl’s life could be saved because every time you pass this on, 50 cents will be donated to the…”
“Make a wish…Scroll down… Pass this to 25 people and your wish will come true in 3 days”
“Repost this or you’ll have bad luck for 8 years”
“If you really love Jesus, you will send this to 30 people”
Familiar eh? Yes, these lines are from some chain messages I receive everyday! My E-mail(s), Friendster, Multiply, Myspace inbox are flooded with chain messages. I even get these on some forums I hang around, in Instant Messengers, or even in SMS.
I have no idea why people would actually believe in stuffs like these. Honestly, it really shows sheer stupidity. Perhaps, all the ghosts from the bizarre horror stories, or maybe the freak goddess of chain letters will haunt me at night for not passing on the chain messages for the nth time.
Doesn’t that piss you off when you receive something that “tests” your faith? "If you really love Jesus, you will send this to 30 people." Your love for Jesus doesn’t show in forwarding chain letters; your love for God reflects on your actions. I firmly believe that chain letters such as this is an indirect form of blasphemy.
"This little girl’s life could be saved because every time you pass this on, 50 cents will be donated to the…" - Oh please dimwits! Do you really think that they can track this down? They have absolutely no way to track down and count sent messages. And besides, if this is true, that would be an easy money, why don’t we all do the same?
"Make a wish…Scroll down… Pass this to 25 people and your wish will come true in 3 days" – This is really laughable. I didn’t know that the scroll bars are the modern genies. Oh, and did you actually wish for something? Pathetic.
Come on guys, wake up! Show some intelligence. We are supposed to be learned men. So think before sending those messages out. If you happen to receive chain letters, just delete it. Forward it if you find it amusing or informative (just make sure you are not forwarding hoax ones).
I’m sorry for those who are offended. It’s just that I’m really getting annoyed and irritated because I get a bunch of them everyday. I’m sick of getting excited seeing that I have a new message only to find out it’s just a friggin stupid chain letter. I get the same old messages from different people everyday, and it’s really bothersome deleting them just to keep my inbox clean. For people who have nothing to do but send chain letters, why don’t you just forward messages that are knowledge-stacking, useful, and informative, or messages that are funny, entertaining, amusing, or something that can makes someone’s day (at least).
I’m done ranting so here’s the deal: Forward this to 500 people within 2 minutes after reading and your wish will come true because you have just proven yourself an idiot. If you dont, you will stink for the rest of your life. So, how’s that?
